After working in the high technology sector of product design for some years, Simon joined UCLan in 1996. Over the following years he has watched the product design sector rapidly evolve as digital technologies have impacted on the way designers work and what they design. Selected this as 1st choice AND is a confirmed attendee
I’m a Senior Lecturer (Principal Lecturer) in Design at Lancaster University. My research interests explore the approaches designers use to consider the future, in particular the ability of designers to envision potential social, cultural, technological and economic futures. As a trained product designer, my research activities centre on design futures, trends, and forecasting, and have published over 25 peer review articles in this area.
I am a member of ImaginationLancaster, a design-led creative research lab that that investigates emerging issues, technologies and practices to develop solutions that contribute to the common good. With extensive experience of leading undergraduate and postgraduate design curricula, I’m currently Course Director for MA Design: Management and Policy at Lancaster University. I’m external examiner at a number of UK institutions and have acted as an academic advisor for curriculum development both nationally and internationally.

The following people expressed an interest to attend but are not confirmed because we have not assigned them to this turtle:
The reason can be 3 fold:
This is their third choice and we have already assigned them to their first 2 choices
This is their second choice but it conflicts with the fact that their first choice runs only once and at the same time
They have only just registered (this is done manually)
